Boise City Hall Special Exhibit Opening
Exhibit Celebrates New Acquisitions and Select Works by James Castle
The Boise City Department of Arts & History opens a special exhibit on Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017, from 4-6 p.m. to celebrate the new acquisitions to the Boise Visual Chronicle and Portable Works Collections, and select works by internationally recognized artist, James Castle.
Sixteen new works by twelve local artists acquired during the bi-annual purchase for the Boise Visual Chronicle and Portable Works collections will be prominently displayed throughout the first floor lobby and the third floor lobby. Several of the artists will be present along with department staff to discuss the work and tour the public around the collections.
In anticipation of the James Castle House opening April 2018, 19 artworks by James Castle will be exhibited in City Hall’s third floor lobby. Generously loaned by the James Castle Collection & Archive, the artworks explore the landscapes and intimate spaces that made up Castle’s time in Boise. Of particular interest, these works represent the 5015 Eugene Street property acquired in 2015 by the City of Boise.
