Makenzi Dunstan (she/they) collaborates with Arts & History staff, community partners, and local educators to guide the strategy for and creation of enriching learning opportunities rooted in Boise’s history, art, and culture. In her role, she manages all aspects of the department’s educational programming, including developing teaching resources, tours, talks, and exhibitions.

Makenzi serves as a liaison with the Boise Public Library, the Boise School District, and teachers to conduct regular outreach and distribution of cultural materials. A member of the Communications Team, she supports the James Castle House and Erma Hayman House with content creation for websites, social media, and YouTube. She also co-manages the Boise City Writer-in-Residence, a collaborative program between Arts & History, Boise Public Library, and The Cabin.

After earning a bachelor’s degree in English Education from Boise State University, Makenzi was an educator in the Nampa School District, where she assisted in district-wide curriculum development for English Language Arts. A lifelong learner, she is a Certified Interpretive Guide through the National Association for Interpretation and is working toward earning her Small Museum Pro certificate through the American Association for State and Local History.

Makenzi is an avid tennis player and occasional rock climber. She loves speculative fiction, spontaneous dance parties, and making people laugh, especially her husband. Her infectious personality and insatiable curiosity draw in people from all ages and walks of life, making her a natural leader and true collaborator.
