Makenzi Dunstan, Grants and Outreach Manager

Makenzi Dunstan (she/they) manages Arts & History’s Grant Program including administering the annual Arts & History Grant and expanding professional development services to uplift and strengthen Boise’s cultural sector. Additionally, she identifies community partnerships, coordinates outreach opportunities, and distributes department materials. 

A member of the Communications Team, Makenzi supports the James Castle House and Erma Hayman House with content creation for websites, social media, and YouTube. She also co-manages the Boise City Writer-in-Residence, a collaborative program between Arts & History, Boise Public Library, and The Cabin.

After earning a bachelor’s degree in English Education from Boise State University, Makenzi was an educator in the Nampa School District, where she supported district-wide curriculum development for English Language Arts. A lifelong learner, she is a Certified Interpretive Guide through the National Association for Interpretation.

Makenzi is an avid tennis player and occasional rock climber. She loves speculative fiction, spontaneous dance parties, and making people laugh, especially her husband. Her infectious personality and insatiable curiosity draw in people from all ages and walks of life, making her a natural leader and true collaborator.
