Mónica Galván (she/her) manages public programs, tours, and artist residencies at the James Castle House located in Boise's Collister Neighborhood. In her role, Mónica develops and nurtures meaningful community partnerships that elevate creatives with diverse backgrounds. 

Born in Mexico and raised in Idaho, Mónica holds bachelors in Spanish and in Art Education, as well as a master's of Education in Educational Leadership, all from Boise State University. A high school art teacher for over a decade, Mónica led as department chair, served as art club advisor, and taught in Boise State University’s TRIO program. She also mentored students through her involvement in the Hispanic Youth Symposium, encouraging them to find pathways to higher education.  

For Mónica, community connection through cultural experiences and representation in the arts are major guiding forces in her life and work. She is the co-founder of the Peques Nature Club and Latinas Mercadito, both of which exemplify her love for family, heritage, and language.  Mónica enjoys spending quality time with her husband and sons in the outdoors, working on her own creative projects, and exploring all the art-based events Boise has to offer.
