  • This sculpture definitely leaves me with an impression of a rising motion through its center. I also really like the “fault line” of the split bottom releasing the circular shapes representing the hot water. The two halves of the fault line come back together at the top – recapturing the escaped heat which would otherwise simply drift away and be lost. Hence the name “closed loop.” It’s an elegant and clean sculpture for an elegant and clean source of energy.

The sculpture seems like it would blend in rather well in the proposed location by Towers Dormitory, and it looks like it doesn’t have any nooks or crannies that would collect dirt or stagnant water, so it should stay clean without adding too much burden to the groundskeeping crews.
