Creators, Makers & Doers: Traveling Trolley Time Capsule
June 10, 2020
A project by TAG Historical Research, the "Traveling Trolley Time Capsule" was a hands-on interpretive exhibit, housed inside a trolley, whose purpose was to educate people of all ages about the streetcar system which provided transportation to Boise residents from 1891 to 1928. The project took place in May 2019 and was located at key points along the old streetcar route in Boise City limits. Exhibit components included historic streetcar rails, streetcar nails, bricks, and other items discovered over the years. Hands-on activities showed how electricity powered the streetcars. Historic photographs and maps showed visitors the route of the streetcar in their neighborhood. The "Traveling Trolley Time Capsule" was supported by a grant from the Boise City Department of Arts & History.
