"I wanted to create a selection of work that represented the comfort, the serenity, the nostalgic feeling when you think of Boise and what this city provides. It has always been an importance to me to bring an environment that you feel free and inspired by. The piece, Agatha, was influenced by a song called ‘Sweater Weather’. With the changing of the seasons here in Idaho, Fall has always been the most dearest with some of most fondest of memories. The cool air lingering in the afternoon makes me want to snuggle up in my favorite sweater with a hot cuppa. I wanted to use this piece because it represents the comfort of Boise being my home. It brings the sensation of safety that we cherish here in our community. The piece, Winston, was made to display the beauty of Boise’s natural habitats and wildlife. Just by simply strolling along the Boise Greenbelt, you come across thousands of natural wildlife, including many birds/birds of prey. Winston was inspired by our colorful, local friends here and the beauty they give back to our community. Growing up, I was also surrounded by birds. My mother has this beautiful gift of somehow being in the right moment and saving their lives. Many of my art pieces have birds, here and there, that capture the memories of my mother and those birds that she saved. A Little Bird Whispered is in memory of my mother, the history of growing up in Boise, and the comfort that we find here. Finding a place that we can all call home." - Jerusha Lauren
