"This Art Piece combines of my interest in Photography and History. Each image contains a historical photo from the Idaho State Archives and an image taken from the same location. Then the two images are combined in Photoshop into one image that shows the contrast between the “Past” and “Present”. I have been doing photography for 30+ years with an interest in the creative process. I have a strong interest in Idaho History and volunteer at the Idaho State Archives scanning historical photos. I have been selecting historical photos of Boise, and doing re-photography, that is, taking a current picture from the same location as the historical photo. I have long been a fan of “past” and “present” photos sitting side by side for study but thought it would be fascinating to combine the past and present in one photo. Using Photoshop on my computer, I combine the two photos into one image that shows both the past and the present." - Dave Crawforth
