"Furcula" is a sculpture of an abstracted white-backed African vulture balancing on top of a single egg resting on a column. Historically persecuted and unappreciated, vultures play a valuable role in the environment as scavengers. Vultures are able to dine on and digest putrid carcasses that would be lethal to other animals. Unfortunately, vulture populations have declined dramatically. With the word 'furcula' referencing the wishbone found in birds, it is the artist's wish that this piece encourages vulture conservation efforts and for a brighter future for these amazing, unappreciated birds of prey.
