The artwork “Like my mother, I’m like my mother” is made of crocheted scrap fabric. The fabrics include: kimono silk, habotai silk, satin, chiffon, and polyester. The fabric was dyed with faux indigo dye and persimmon juice. Several of the scrap pieces were from the hems of wedding dresses. The sections where the brown persimmon juice can be seen are scraps from my piece “Tansu” that was exhibited at the Common Well. The shadow of the artwork is painted onto the wall with liquid bluing.
