These steel tree grates are laser cut with maps that depict Boise's system of sewer manholes which provide a vertical access point within a sewer system that allows maintenance crews to enter the underground pipes for inspection, cleaning, and repair of blockages, particularly at points where the sewer line changes direction or slope; essentially providing a way to access the sewer system for maintenance purposes. These systems are notably vital to the function and sustainability of the city and its citizens.
