Melanie Folwell is a photographer and graphic designer living and working in Boise. As a portrait photographer, most of her work deals with themes of identity, community and personal history, particularly childhood. Folwell is deeply interested in historical photography and its connection to narratives of life today. Folwell works in both black & white, as well as digital mediums with color and texture. Her illustrative work is whimsical, graphic and heavily influenced by a mid-century modern approach to color, form and typography.
