Boise’s wilder landscape with its stunning river and large mature trees can be enjoyed throughout one’s day. In addition to accessibility, the trees, water and overgrown vines seemed active, fervent, a little chaotic and intensely alive. Being in their presence, Nancy Quinn Budde was reminded that their variety and unique physical qualities are reflective of the life force and long-term environmental circumstances particular to each tree. Quinn Budde began to investigate ways in which she could express those observations and personal views of nature through formal art methods. These methods include saturated and layered color, a curved horizon line, scumbled brushstrokes and multiple images to create the optical sensation of movement.
