The "Ribbon of Jewels" winds its way through vibrant parks and the Greenbelt, tracing the Boise River's meandering path through the city center. Inspired by the river's dynamic energy and the strategic placement of this traffic box, this composition captures the essence of the Boise River, Julia Davis Park, Boise State University campus, Ann Morrison Park, and the River Street Neighborhood. Crafted from a blend of cotton, wool, acrylic threads, and yarn, the piece evokes the river's fluidity and motion with abstract shapes. Glass, crystal, and ceramic beads serve as tangible jewels, enhancing the visual appeal and texture. Each corner of the artwork represents a unique riverside locale. Julia Davis Park is depicted with its iconic Rose Garden, the Boise Art Museum, and Zoo Boise. Ann Morrison Park's features and events, including Hot Air Balloons, summer fireworks, playfields, and the whimsical Dog Island with its abandoned tennis ball, are intricately portrayed. The eclectic essence of the River Street neighborhood emerges through stitched threads depicting orderly streets and plots of wool felt. Boise State University's identity is captured through the distinct blue turf, historic red brick and terra cotta buildings, and helixes symbolizing scientific innovation. The "Ribbon of Jewels" not only celebrates the natural and urban landscapes along the Boise River but also serves as a vibrant tapestry of the city's diverse culture and spirit.
