My artwork represents some important elements and landmarks in the rich history of the Collister area. Central to my artwork is a streetcar on a rail traversing the rugged landscape and mountains of our region. Following the flow of the rails are the obelisks which mark the Oregon trail and on the right, an old streetcar station. I put the Boise River on the upper left and on the right is a gulch with some horses running to show wildlife. Beside the horses is the James Castle House. On the lower left is a peach tree with the fruits being harvested since Boise was known a long time ago for its fruit orchards. My artwork shows other historic structures such as a church and school and connecting them to present day activities especially in recreation that are popular in the area. Overall, I would like to convey a “flow” of history in one unified scene to celebrate the legacy of the neighborhoods from the past and present.
