In loving memory of Angela Jewett Abdullah for her work with refugees in Boise, Idaho. Hewlett-Packard selected Dr. Said Ahmed-Zaid as the winner of the 2004 HP Award for Distinguished Leadership in Human Rights. “This award celebrates somebody local striving to advance human rights locally,” said Stephanie Baldwin in the Idaho Statesman article. Said Ahmed-Zaid, originally from Algeria, is an engineering professor at Boise State University and a leader in the growing Boise Muslim community. He has been the president of the Islamic Center, works to educate Idahoans about Islam and, with his wife Andy, is raising the children of slain refugee activist Angie Abdullah. With the award the winner receiving a commissioned work of art. Said Ahmed-Zaid chose Elizabeth Wolf to commission a pastel drawing of children of different races playing in a field of flowers in honor of Angie Abdullah.
