Glenn Dicterow, former concertmaster of both the New York Philharmonic and Los Angeles Philharmonic, makes his long-awaited return to Boise. He is joined by international viola soloist Karen Dreyfus in the performance of Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante for violin and viola. The concert opens with Handel’s Concerto Grosso Op. 6, No. 10 in D Minor, one of the standards of baroque repertoire. The concert ends with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 8 in F Major, Op. 93. The second to last symphony is a mature masterpiece of Beethoven’s writing, but one with small instrumentation that lends itself to a chamber orchestra. You will enjoy hearing this orchestral standard performed in the more intimate setting of the Cathedral of the Rockies.
