Kate Walker Presents: Sarah Sentilles Visiting Artist & Scholar Program Lecture

“Making Art in a Time of Crisis”

Sarah Sentilles is an award-winning author and activist who writes on art, war, violence and the importance of making art in a time of crisis. Her most recent book, Stranger Care: A Memoir of Loving What Isn’t Ours, won Idaho Book of the Year in 2022 (tied with Anthony Doerr). Her book Draw Your Weapons won the 2018 PEN Award for Creative Nonfiction.

Finding a Way Reading/ Performance

Author Sarah Sentilles, MFA writing students, and members of the public will be invited to read in an "open mic" format based on the theme; “What books give you solace, hope or deeper understanding in the face of current global crises such as climate emergency, war, increasing social and political divisiveness and continuing pandemics?"
