ABOUT THE ARTIST & MURALS
Miguel Angel Almeida is a Mexican-American artist living in Boise, Idaho. He was commissioned to develop a two-part mural located at the Erma Hayman House and the Downtown Library.
Titled, "Viva La Causa" (Long Live the Cause), this pair of murals tell the story of the Chicano Movement through the United Farm Workers protests of the 1960s and 1970s. Through digital illustration and the use of historical photographs as reference, Almeida brings light to the discrimination and inequality faced by Mexican-Americans and how the Chicano Movement sought to better the lives of this community.
This event is free and open to all!
