Litharacnium
Commissioned by the City, this artwork helps raise awareness of biodiversity and the interdependence of all life forms on earth. Oceans cover 70% of the earth’s surface and the exquisite Litharacnium is part of the free-floating plankton community whose plant members (phytoplankton) are responsible for 50% of the oxygen on earth through the process of photosynthesis. The Litharacnium is an introduction to the stunning beauty, complexity and importance of the sea world.
