Hold It! Local

NEWS RELEASE

September 04, 2009

The City of Boise today announced a new partnership with Go Listen Boise to broadcast local music through the City's telephone hold system.

Organized by Go Listen Boise in coordination with the City's Department of Arts and History, the program -- "Hold It! Local!" is a pilot project to promote local music by creating playlist loops for the City's phone system.  Go Listen Boise hopes to build and expand the program by integrating similar playlist loops into the phone systems of other businesses and organizations through the region.

"'Hold it! Local' is a great opportunity for Boiseans and visitor callers to hear samples of our local music" said Mayor David Bieter. "We hope this partnership helps bring awareness of the tremendous talent here in Boise and inspires other public and private organizations to use 'Hold It! Local!' playlists in their establishments."

Go Listen Boise is an all-volunteer collection of music supporters whose mission is to support, foster, and promote the Boise area music community by facilitating communication between local musicians, venues, promoters, and patrons. Go Listen Boise serves all ages of musicians and strives to educate the community about the importance of maintaining and supporting an active music culture in our city.

The City of Boise, Department of Arts & History strives to forge bold partnerships that energize the artistic and historical life of the city, making art and history in all their variations an integral part of our residents' everyday experience.
