Depot Day

Boise - The public is invited to attend Depot Day on Sunday, April 18, from noon - 5:00 at the Boise Depot. Celebrate the Depot's 85th anniversary with family activities, birthday cake, and history lessons and more, free of charge.
Please note that there is no parking at the Depot. There will be free shuttle parking at the Towneplace Marriott next to Elmer's and at Vista Village. Ride the shuttle for free to the Depot. Shuttle will run every 15 minutes. Come by shuttle, on foot, or by bike. Bikes will be kept safe in a bike corral operated by Treasure Valley Cycling Club.
The event will include:
- Food vendors -- or bring a picnic and sit on the lawn.
- The Depot tower will be open and people can ride the elevator to the top of the tower
- Garden Railroaders with train setup.
- Retired railroad employees will talk about Big Mike and other railroad-related topics
- Storytelling
- Railroad and Depot-themed coloring sheets
- History presentation on the railroad in Boise
- Vintage cars spanning the years
- Vintage motorcycles
- Vintage bicycles
- Plein Air Painters
The Depot was built in 1925 in the Spanish Revival style, one of the finest examples in the US. It was designed by the New York firm of Carrere and Hastings. Passenger service continued until 1996 (a few years without).
The Depot is open June through September---Monday 12:30 - 8:00 and Sundays 10 -6:00.
