Linen District Public Art Installed

NEWS RELEASE

March 31, 2010

Four glass tile mosaic panels by Boise artist Reham A. Aarti will be installed just in time for April's First Thursday. Her work, titled "Dream Tree" is a colorful, abstracted image of a tree with branches swirling left and right. The art will be installed on Grove Street on the black fence between the Linen Building and Big City Coffee. The mosaic panels will be up from April 1-July 31st.
This is the first of three temporary art installations slated for this site. The other two artists who were selected through a competitive public selection process are Kate Masterson, whose figurative paintings will be un from August 5-November 28th, and Matt Bodett, whose paintings will be up December 1-March 31st.
David Hale installed the black metal fence, reclaimed from the Modern Hotel renovation, when he redeveloped the Linen Building in 2006. Panel blanks installed on the fence were always intended for art; however this is the first art installation on them.
Capital City Development Corporation funded this public art project with a $10,000 grant to Boise City Department of Arts & History, who manages the artist selection and project maintenance.
