2011 Mayor's Awards for Excellence in Arts & History

Boise - Mayor David Bieter will present the winners of the 2011 Mayor's Awards for Excellence in Art & History, including two Lifetime Achievement Awards on September 22 at the Old Pen. Doors open at 5:00 and the event concludes at 8:00. The Awards are presented every two years and celebrate people, organizations, and businesses that have contributed to Boise's artistic and cultural community. The awards began in 1986 to honor the arts, and more than 80 people and organizations have been recognized since its inception.
Dinner tickets to the Mayor's Awards for Excellence in Arts
& History are available through September 15th at
www.brownpapertickets.com; after that, only dessert tickets are
available and can be purchased at the same website, the Department
of Arts & History office, or at the door. The evening at the
Old Pen, promised to be fun-filled with a local-foods dinner,
music, dance, visual art, a photo contest, a photo booth, and the
possibility of making your own art...all while honoring our
deserving winners and recognizing the 10th anniversary of the
Percent for Art program. Cell-block art installations by local
artists Grant Olsen, Reham Aarti, Francis Fox, Mark Baltes, Marcus
Pierce, Amber Conger, Ward Hooper, and Ben Love will show the
quality and variety of work over the past ten years.
