First Thursday at the 8th St. Marketplace AiR

BOISE, ID- 8^th St. Marketplace Artists in Residence will once again open their studios to the public this First Thursday, May, 3.  All five studios will offer displays of new artwork. In addition the IBAG studio will present two free workshops:Accordion Fold Books andTrash Origami Books.

STUDIO SHOWCASE--

MOXLEY STUDIO
Mercantile Suite 201, 8th and Broad, East side of 8th Street, 5pm-9pm
Star Moxley will present an installation titled Changing Times. This new work explores a world after the circus leaves town, pulling inspiration from the environment and the harsh and exquisite nature of change.

RANDAL STUDIO
Mercantile Suite L138, 8th and Broad, East side of 8th Street, 5pm-9pm
Seth Randal will showcase the story of Idahoans caught-up in the historic WWII Battle of Wake Island. View a Wake Island flag handcrafted by a Boise seamstress, artwork drawn by a former P.O.W., and new clips of the film, currently in production.

MASTERSON, SCHIFFLER, BURKES STUDIO
Northrup Suite 295, 8th and Broad, West Side of 8th Street, 5pm-9pm
New artworks by Cassandra Schiffler, Theresa Burkes, Kate Masterson, and Sarah Masterson.  All four artists are exploring ideas and images of contemporary and historic architecture. This group showBuildings, Structures, Homesis a collection of paintings, printmaking, and mixed media.

IDAHO BOOKARTS GUILD STUDIO
Northrup Building, 8th and Broad, West Side of 8th Street, 5pm-9pm
iBAG will offer 2 free workshops: Accordion Fold Booksand Trash Origami Books.  In addition, they will display the process of papermaking, paste paper creation, and the history of bookarts.

KERSHAW STUDIO
Renewal Underground, 517 S. 8th Street between Myrtle and Fulton, 5pm-9pm
Adrian Kershaw will show mixed media VHS tape sculptures and a VHS loom. The artist will also present a large VHS installation at the Modern Hotel's Modern Art event.

The 8^th St Marketplace Artists in Residence (AiR) program selects emerging and established artists for six-month residencies in donated downtown Boise commercial office spaces. AiR originated in the 8^th Street Marketplace, which continues its commitment to the program in the Mercantile and Northrup buildings, and has expanded to an additional site in the Renewal "Underground" at 8^th and Fulton. The Boise City Department of Arts & History administers the AiR program and works in partnership with property owners Ephraim Greenwall, G. Square Companies, and the Boise Weekly.
