Five Idaho Artists selected as finalists for Zoo Boise Public Art Project

Boise- Idaho artists were invited to apply for an opportunity to design public art for Zoo Boise to celebrate the fifty-year relationship between Friends of Zoo Boise and the City of Boise. Up to $40,000 is available to commission art; it is expected that two to four artworks each under $24,000 will be commissioned. Muralists, sculptors, mixed-media artists of all kinds applied. Forty-four applications were received. A panel made up of representatives from Zoo Boise, Friends of Zoo Boise Board, Boise City Council, Arts & History Commission and the community reviewed all applications and narrowed it to five artists. The finalists are listed below.

Who: 
Robert Carter, metal sculptor
Reham Aarti, mosaic artist
Marcus Pierce, painter
Stephanie Inman, architect/designer/painter
Rachel Teanalach, painter

What: 
Artists will create site-specific proposals for Zoo Boise.

What's Next?
Proposals, Due September 18th, will be put on public view at Zoo Boise and Boise City Hall to receive public comments. A panel will select winning proposals.

Zoo Boise, located in Julia Davis Park in downtown Boise, connects visitors with animals to inspire and involve the community in the conservation of wildlife worldwide. Zoo Boise is a service of the City of Boise and is supported by the Friends of Zoo Boise, a non-profit organization that has raised thousands of dollars for new exhibits and wildlife conservation.
