New Fellows At The 8th St. Marketplace AiR

Boise- The 8th Street Marketplace Artist in Residence (AiR) program selects emerging and established artists for six-month residencies in donated commercial office spaces in downtown Boise. AiR originated in 8th Street Marketplace at BoDo, which continues its commitment to the program in the Mercantile and Northrup buildings, and expanded to an additional site in downtown Boise-Renewal "Underground" at 8th andFulton.

The City of Boise's Department of Arts and History, in partnership with property owners Ephraim Greenwall, G. Square Companies, and the Boise Weekly, administers and co-sponsors the program. In February a selection panel of community business and arts leaders selected new artists and writers for the March-September 2012 residency. The selections are made based on the strength of the artist's work samples and letters of interest. The panelists chose artists who would engage the spaces and audiences differently. Artists will share their work with the public during First Thursday studio tours. April 5th will be the first, First Thursday for the new batch of fellows. The public is invited to view their works from 5-8pm in their studio spaces. Suite numbers are included below with the list of artists and their creative practice. The new fellows are:

Star Moxley, installation artist and costume designer

Mercantile Suite L138, 8th and Broad, East side of 8th Street
Seth Randal, filmmaker creating a documentary about Wake Island

Northrup Suite 295, 8th and Broad, West Side of 8th Street
Kate & Sarah Masterson, visual artists creating a series about family history
Cassandra Schiffler, abstract painter working on larger paintings
Theresa Burkes, printmaker creating a series about historic buildings

Idaho Book Arts Guild (iBAG), a collaborative of ten artist book makers who will be conducting workshops and providing studio space for artist bookmaking
