Nine New Traffic Box Art Wraps Completed

Boise-Idaho artists created unique designs for nine traffic boxes in Boise, which are completed in time for First Thursday, September 6. For many participating artists this is their first public art project. Due to the wide-spread locations of the boxes, the artists will not be at their boxes on First Thursday; however we invite the public to do a driving tour to check out the new artwork in several Boise neighborhoods.

New Art Wraps Completed for First Thursday:

Hill Road & 36th St., "Tales from the Forest" by Kurt Zwolfer
Fort and 9th St., "North End Commuters" by Julia Green
State & 6th Streets, "Hope is a Place" by Meredith Hoffman
Front and 9th Street (2 boxes), "Couple" by Mike Landa
University Drive at Juanita, "Life in Flux" by Matt Laurence
Capitol, Federal Way & Vista, "Trout Dreams" by Josh Udesen
Latah & Rose Hill, "Kids, Stay in School and Get Good Grades" by Toby Robin
Cole & Ustick,  "Take Flight" by Leslie Dixon

The program brings public art to the street, decreases graffiti, and increases the unique character of Boise. Fifty-three boxes, in and out of downtown, are currently wrapped. To get a walking tour map of most of the traffic boxes and transit shelter art, visit our website at BoiseArtsAndHistory.org.  The Mayor's Neighborhood Reinvestment Program, Capital City Development Corporation, and Boise City provide funding for the Art Wraps in partnership with the Downtown Boise Association and Downtown Neighborhood Association. Other partners are Ada County Highway District, who owns and cleans the boxes, and Boise's Department of Arts & History, which facilitates artist selection process and project management. Trademark Sign Company fabricates and installs the wraps.
