Nominations Open for 2013 Mayor's Awards for Excellence in Art and History

BOISE, ID - The Boise City Department of Arts & History and the Office of Boise Mayor David Bieter are pleased to accept nominations for the 2013 Mayor's Awards for Excellence in Art and History in the following categories:
 
  • Organization: Excellence in the Arts
  • Organization: Excellence in History
  • Person: Excellence in the Arts
  • Person: Excellence in the field of History
  • Business: Support for the Arts
  • Business: Support for History
  • Education: Excellence in Arts Education            
  • Education: Excellence in History Education


Nominees must have demonstrated distinguished service, creative accomplishment, a record of publication, presentation, or research that enhances the artistic, historic, and broader cultural life of Boise. Any individual or organization is eligible to receive an award. This is the 23rd year for the biennial award and over 90 people and organizations have been honored since its inception.
 
The winners will be honored on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at a reception and dinner at the Boise Plaza. Recipients will be acknowledged and receive a special commendation from the Mayor.

ABOUT US:

The Department of Arts & History was established by City Ordinance in March 2008 to enhance the Boise community by providing leadership, advocacy, education, services, and support for arts and history. The new Department emerged from the former Boise City Arts Commission, which was established by City Ordinance in 1978 as a nonprofit city agency to advise and assist the City Council in development, coordination, promotion and support of the arts.
